Our story

Torronificio del Casale is a family-run business. In the green hills of Irpinia, we are artisans specialising in nougat, chocolate and many other fine sweets.

A family story

Our nougat has its roots in 1900, when it was made by the father of grandmother Carmela, our paternal grandmother. By the 1930s, still very young, grandmother Carmela was running the dried-fruit trade with America on her own. Following in her footsteps, in 1988 our father, Carmelo, with innovation and determination, created an entirely new nougat that changed the way people think of this sweet: the classic crumbly, unique in texture and aroma, and the soft, creamy and smooth. To this day we follow his recipe and his slow, artisanal process.

But the real revolution came from our mother, Mariarosaria. She is our daily inspiration; we owe her everything, and it is for her that we put passion, commitment and constancy into our craft, into our relationship with customers and into the choice of every ingredient. Without her genius and her passion, our nougat would never have travelled so far.

With the love she put into every detail, the care she gave to every person, her gift for pastry and her way of welcoming each customer as a guest, she set the path we follow every day.

From her came our biscuits, with a recipe created to feed us three daughters with wholesome, genuine food. Then the cakes, which began as our afternoon snacks; the chocolate, in many flavours and shapes; iSoffiati®; and the whole shop.

Today it is we, the three daughters, who carry on what our parents created and taught us.

  • How we work

    Our values are craftsmanship, quality and transparency towards our customers. We have always chosen fine raw materials from producers who work sustainably, respecting the land and promoting ethical, fair trade.

  • What we leave out

    No preservatives, colourings, hydrogenated fats or industrial pre-mixes. Every product is made from scratch with a few selected ingredients and wrapped in simple packaging that keeps it fresh.

Recognition

Gambero Rosso called our Classic Nougat «one of the finest nougats in southern Italy, perhaps the finest». Slow Food Italia selected it for «Fare la spesa con Slow Food». And for over fourteen years our nougats, classic and soft, have been at Eataly.

But the finest recognition comes from our customers, every day:

  • the Castagnaccio has become the most eagerly awaited sweet of autumn;
  • the Dark Chocolate Panettone, though not a classic panettone, is the sweet that cannot be missing from their Christmas table, and at Easter as a Colomba;
  • the Panettone 1950, made with sourdough, has sold out every season since its launch in 2023.

Our vision

To keep offering artisan, genuine sweets, with passion and innovation, never compromising. To stay true to our values. To pamper and delight our customers with unique sweets that mark life's most important moments: Christmas with the family, a special gift, an anniversary to remember, or simply a moment all to oneself.
